We strongly believe that given a supportive environment each individual has the ability to progress

and develop.  This is the foundation of all our work.

Our experience and methods are professionally based and continually developing

from work with service users with individual and complex needs.  It is our belief that emotional security is integral to progression to independence.  Our support is, therefore, structured to understand, engage, and enable trust so that young people are held as they open themselves to experience education, life skills, work experience and personal development.   This gives our service users the opportunity to work through any difficulties and find the confidence to develop and steer their aspirations in adult life.

Our approach is person-centred, cognitive behavioural and task-centred.

It provides risk assessment, analysis and management, and offers confidence, esteem building and social and communication skills development.  Every support package and approach is tailor-made to the specific needs of each individual giving each person the best possible chance to develop their full potential.

Furthermore, we engage in a great deal of multi-disciplinary work and have developed good links with a number of statutory, voluntary and other outside agencies. This promotes positive outcomes for service users.

We usually request, wherever possible, for any previous assessment reports to be included with the referral.  Following this, an initial liaison meeting and an interview with the applicant are held to discuss and identify his or her needs in detail.  An assessment is carried out to establish whether the applicant is suitable for the service of the EST, and the referrer and applicant are informed of this decision.

All support packages provided by the EST are costed individually.

Following this, people who join the project will need to have secured funding. Most gain this from Children’s or Adult Social Care Services. This ensures that services are tailor-made, developed to the specific needs of an individual, and therefore entirely needs led. This provides a unique opportunity for the service user to develop their independence skills, address any other needs they may have, and to achieve their full potential.
